Well a bit of a strange night really with Brian watching Bradford win and Graeme on hospital duties, it could have been quietone but it turned out ok as 6 eventually gathered and sang many songs.
So another good night began and as I had pen and paper I wrote down the songs.
But due to me being busy painting a kitchen at the moment this will probably be more of a ‘list of songs’rather than the normal Blog.
Carolina Star, Ready For the Time To Get Better, Nobody Knows But Me, Honky Tonkin and two personal favourites, I Cant Help It (Still In Love With You) and Hard Times.
Me and Bobby MGee, I Need Your Love So Bad, Tell it Like it is by the Neville Brothers, two of his own, Freedom, Long Hot Summer and As if they WereStill Lovers by The Human League, but nicelydone by Andy.
Rosemary Lane, Her Father Didn’t Like Me Anyway, Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes, Candy, Paris(thanks for the added guitar Graeme) and my nod to Aretha, Natural Woman/Man.
Who gave us a collection of her own songs; Lights on Broadway, Time, Janie and the poignant Sad Violin, all done on Barry’s lovely guitar.
A great rendition of one of my favourite Carol Kings song, It’s To Late, with nice guitar licks originally played by Danny Kooch.
Bogies Bonny Belle, a Scottish traditional tune, Shoe Fly Pie and Apple Pie Dowdy a jazzy bluesy song, Dinah Shore’s version seems to be a favourite.
A nice version of the Beatles Blackbird then Doctor Blues which I think was one of his own as it was a bit comedic.
A late arrival but he still managed a number of good songs.
The Dance by Garth Brooks (new to me) When The Girl In Your Arms, a Cliff Richard song I loved as a young lad. Sweet Caroline, Nights In White Satin with nice guitar bits and finally to finish us off Buddy Holly’s Everyday.
